To often in this busy world we get mixed up in "What's in it for me?" When it comes to good business, this is not the best attitude to have.
When was the last time you did something above and beyond your job description to really help out a customer or fellow employee? If your scratching your head trying to think of an example...IT'S BEEN TO LONG!
In a recent blog post by Seth Godin he emphasized, consistent, persistent, generosity, and I couldn't agree more. When times get tough, it's time to up your generosity in both your professional and personal life.
Here's a great story from one of our clients, demonstrating going above and beyond:
One of our clients who sold construction equipment decided to do an amazing thing for one of their own clients. Their client had won a big contract, as a sign of congratulations they sent donuts in the morning with a card from all the staff. Each donut had the word “Congrats” on it.
When they buy their next piece of equipment, who do you think they will think of first? This particular client’s business rose over 30 % in a down economy.
Acts of generosity or kindness don't have to be this big, but I thought this was a great example showing the possibilities. Try to commit 1 random act of kindness today, and everyday for that matter. I bet it comes back to you in the end.
