Recently I spent some time with another couple who are friends of ours. They started to tell with me that their son was back in baseball and really enjoying it due to new coaches. They said the coaches were filled with positive reinforcement, encouragement, and overall created a sense of fun for all the kids. When I asked how the team was doing they both shared with me they're playing really well it was really due to fun. The first lesson is fun does not mean a lack of competitiveness. Second the coaches did not yell at the kids, but we're still getting high performance from them even though they continued to make mistakes but we're enthusiastic when it came to continuing to make an effort to get better. The real story of this conversation is when I asked the parents how they showed their appreciation to the coaches they both looked at me with blank faces. I said if they were bad coaches and they were not treating your child the way you would like would you speak up? They both said yes. I then asked why wouldn't you give the positive side equal do attention? We tend to speak up when things are bad but when things are good we tend to take it for granted and not sure those people who are having a positive impact on our employees, our kids or even ourselves realize their value!

Guess What ? They need positive reinforcement too ! So Go Tell Them !
