The key element in coaching people is establishing trust. Here are 3 major ways to establish trust when coaching developing employees:

    1. Ask questions and share with employee (s) what you understand and how the feedback will be used.

    2. Reward publicly by offering positive feedback in front of other employees. This establishes public support which is powerful!

    3. Email upper management support for an employee and ask them to reach out the employee - this shows a manager truly support his or her employees.
