One of the most critical aspects to successful coaching certainly early on is understanding what true results are. Recently I received some assessment feedbacks in our coach the coach service from some clients. Many would finish some sentences with” they are still not reaching results”. The critical factor early on in coaching is the employee engaged, are they willing to pursue effort to get better, and overall do you feel like you have a cooperative relationship with the employee to pursue better performance?

Many managers early on are in the internal battle with the coaching process and the desired outcome. For example, if an employee needs to reach 100 % percent of the sales goal and are at 70% but through the coaching process are improving in increments of 3 to 5 percentage points this is incredible effort and progress associated with the coaching process. The worst thing a manager can do is continue solely focus on the desired income when in fact an employee who is improving, engaged, and showing short aspects of progress is an absolute incredible set of results as it relates to the coaching process.
