I'M FAT, I'M WALKING, AND COACHING: VOLUME IV

Today I was doing a combination of fast walking and short runs. I was wearing a 20 pound vest and I realized that the vest represented pressure and discipline to work through the heavy load. In addition, the short bursts of runs represented targeted short coaching sessions as I was talking myself to work through running with a 20 pound vest on me. Much like coaching I realize my pursuit of weight-loss is a process as much effort is extremely high, my progress is limited but I am making traction, and ultimately I know I'm going in the direction of desired results. When managers coach their employees the short combination of walks and runs represent a combination of positive feedback and short scheduled coaching sessions that focus on one or two areas of performance. The heavy vest represents the pressure that both the manager and the employee feel simply doing their jobs. The goal is to use coaching to work through the pressure by exhibiting effort, progress, and ultimately attaining results.

By the way who's bright idea was is to wear a 20 pound vest … I still carry enough weight as if I was a family of four? In the end I was sweating so much the sweat a wet silhouette of mickey mouse evolved on my shirt. I guess I still have a ways to go?
