God I cannot stand this statement "I need to get buy in from my people". NO you do not ! You are the  manager and welcome to the world of leadership, management, and coaching. I am not saying to be dismissive or rude to staff but to not lead your people because you may not have buy in is crazy. Does the statement "Let the inmates run the asylum ring a bell"? Employees will avoid buy in because its typically one less thing they have to do and they often do not know what is good for them or will help them. That's why we are the managers!
