What does it mean to define and in coach? Recently, I had a client make a statement that I thought was really profound he said during these tough times you have to “do whatever it takes”. I thought about that comment and responded to my client with the following question. What do you mean by the comment whatever it takes? He struggled to define it because what he was really referring to was his own inner drive and belief system. But how many employees would really resonate with that comment and ultimately be on the same page? Not many I would suspect. The reason I wanted to put this blog article together was so managers could not lead with their motivation level which they and only they understand and transfer it to the rest of their staff. A major suggestion would be to provide the comment “whatever it takes” and have everybody in the team define what that means to them and what actions represent that comment. Then and only then can people really respond to such a phrase and it's an awesome way to drive people’s awareness of overcoming big challenges, as well as be committed to actions that drive positive change.
