I heard a great observation from one of my business partners last week. Is the employee looking to swim in calm waters only or are they willing to swim on the whirlpool knowing its moving fast and choppy. What a great way to look at things because I know most people including myself wants to be in calm waters, yet what we are willing to do to help our organizations, departments, or even ourselves to get better? Are your employees willing to swim in the whirlpool when things get tough? If so do they represent it with their actions such as staying late, practicing skills on their own without management guidance, reading a book to self-improve, etc?
What a great observation for us as coaches to think about
