Why do we need to coach and/or challenge that one negative employee we have on our team or within the company? There are many reasons to coach that employee. Firstly, from a leadership perspective, if we don't address that person, we may lose the trust of the other teammates. Secondly, we have to look at that employee with the negative attitude as an opportunity to help them see that there is a better way to react to situations in the workplace. Thirdly, we need to realize that negative employees lack the skill sets, behavioral attributes and the wherewithal in terms of how to deal with challenging situations.
