Having a good attitude can lead to higher motivation and higher productivity, and, as you can guess, a bad attitude can lead to lower motivation and lower productivity. A good attitude in the work place is crucial, without it, not only does the employee suffer but the company as well.

    attitude

Attitudes are contagious, if one employee has a bad attitude, it can quickly spread, however, a good attitude can spread just as fast. As a manager, it is important to recognize a bad attitude and start coaching right away. Coaching to someones attitude can seem difficult because you cannot control how they feel or act, but actually it can be very easy and very effective. Here are a few tips on how to help keep spirits high in your office.

    Set an example

Make sure that you always have a positive attitude around your employees. As i said before, attitudes are contagious! Your attitude can have a big affect on the rest of your employees and help keep them motivated.

    Praise positive attitudes

Make sure to compliment and acknowledge employees with good, positive attitudes. Not only does this encourage an employee to keep that attitude, but it helps to motivate other employees to stay positive as well.

    Ask a rating question

A rating question can help an employee notice the problem in themselves and motivate them to fix it. By simply saying, "On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being not very positive and 5 being very positive, how would you describe your attitude today?" This allows the employee to assess themselves, which can make them more open and willing to change than if you just said to them, "You have a negative attitude today and it needs to change".

Attitude affects so many aspects of the workplace, and it is important for employees to have positive attitudes. As a manager, coaching to positive attitudes can be one of the easiest and most important steps toward building a better, more productive company.
